Michigan ranks last in a national study of state ethics and transparency laws and safeguards, partly due to its weak public records law and an absence of laws requiring personal financial disclosures by lawmakers and top state officials (study by Center for Public Integrity). I support changing laws to fix this.
Campaign finance must be transparent to be fair. Political Action Committees should not be allowed to hide the source of money used to influence campaigns. "Dark money" is a barrier to fair and free elections. I support efforts to expand voting registration and I support vote by mail.
